Nissan key replacement in Tenerife — proximity or transponder.

By Olexy — mobile auto locksmith, Tenerife · Updated September 2026

At Otypro in Tenerife, I cut and program Nissan keys at your vehicle — spare keys from €60, proximity fobs from €200. All-keys-lost starts at €200 for most transponder and remote-head keys, or from €200 for a push-to-start smart key.

  • Pay after it works

I’m Olexy. I do Micra, Note, Juke, Qashqai, X-Trail, Leaf, Ariya, Navara and Townstar — transponder or proximity push-button. Nissan went keyless early, so even older models often run a proximity push-button fob — a more involved job than a basic key, and the kind a lot of aftermarket shops get wrong. I do it right in one trip with dealer-level access, whether it’s a spare or a full Nissan all-keys-lost replacement.

How much does a Nissan key cost in Tenerife?

At Otypro in Tenerife, I cut and program Nissan car keys on-site — spare keys from €60, Smart Keys from €200, all-keys-lost from €200, with a written quote by text before I drive out.

Open-ended starting prices. Older transponder Nissans sit at the floor; proximity push-button fobs sit higher because the fob hardware costs more. A fob battery you can do yourself for about €3.11.

Spare / extra key

Spare Nissan key or proximity fob

from €60 transponder

from €120 remote head / flip

from €200 proximity fob

Cut and programmed at your vehicle. All Nissan models. Transponder keys at the floor; proximity push-button fobs sit higher in the range. Full breakdown on the spare key page.

Lost all keys (AKL)

All-keys-lost replacement

from €200 transponder / remote-head

from €200 smart key

All-keys-lost starts at €200 for most transponder and remote-head keys, or from €200 for a push-to-start smart key. A second key made the same visit costs less than coming back for it later — I put that number in your written quote. A brand-new Nissan key, programmed to your car on-site once ownership is confirmed. No parts-order wait, no tow to the dealer, and no service-bay queue. Details on the lost-keys page.

Fob programming / battery

BYO fob or supply + program

from €60 you bring it

from €60 I supply

Bring a reputable aftermarket Nissan fob and it's labour-only at €60; or I supply a basic remote — same from €60 floor. A push-button proximity fob is a pricier part (spare pricing above), not a €60 basic-fob job. A plain battery swap isn't worth a service call — do it yourself for ~€3.11 (see above). What makes a Nissan key its own thing

What's a Nissan proximity key — and what do you do when it dies?

Nissan was one of the first brands to go keyless, so the proximity push-button fob shows up on a lot of Nissans — not just the new ones. It's convenient until the battery dies. Here's what's actually going on, and how to keep moving.

Proximity key vs. a plain transponder key

A proximity key talks to the car wirelessly — you keep it in your pocket, the door unlocks on touch, and you start with a button. A plain transponder key (older Micra, Note, Navara) still has a chip that has to match the car, but you physically insert and turn it. Both have to be programmed to the vehicle, not just cut — that's the part a hardware-store copy can't do. I handle both at your car.

Which battery, and the swap gotcha

Proximity fobs use a coin cell — commonly a CR2032, with some taking a CR2025. Slide the hidden mechanical key out first, then split the case at the seam. Read the number on the old battery and match it — and note which way the plus (+) side faces, because a reversed battery is the most common reason a fob "dies" right after a swap. A battery swap never needs reprogramming.

Dead proximity key? You can still get in and go.

Worth knowing before you're stuck in a Tenerife parking lot under the midday sun — a dead fob battery doesn't strand you:

1

Slide the release on the fob and pull out the hidden mechanical key — it unlocks the driver's door by hand.

2

Get in, press and hold the brake pedal.

3

Touch the proximity key to the START/STOP button, then press it — the button reads the chip up close even with no battery.

If a fresh, correctly-seated battery still doesn't bring the remote back, it's a programming or hardware issue — that's where I come in, on-site. More on fob programming →

The Nissan lineup

Nissan models I cut and program.

The Qashqai is by far my most common Nissan job, but the whole lineup is in scope — transponder or proximity push-button. Year and trim decide which, so text me both (or a photo of your existing key) for an exact quote.

Qashqai

SUV · 2007+

My most common Nissan by a wide margin. Mostly proximity push-button, especially 2014+. The 2021+ redesign is full push-button — the fob puts it in the higher pricing tier.

Juke + Note

Crossover / hatch · 2010+ / 2006+

The Juke had a proximity key from launch — many have push-button start right back to the first generation. The Note uses the same kind of proximity key on higher trims. Common spare-key and AKL jobs.

Micra + Almera + Pulsar

Compact · various

The value end. Older Micra and Almera are transponder turn-key at the floor; newer Micra (2017+) and Pulsar move to proximity push-button on higher trims. Text the year and trim — this group splits between the two key types.

X-Trail

SUV · 2001+

The bigger family SUV. Since the 2014 generation it's almost all proximity push-button start — the same kind of proximity key as the Qashqai. Older X-Trails mostly use a transponder or remote-head key.

Navara + Townstar

Pickup / van · 2005+

Older Navara are transponder; the 2015+ Navara and the Townstar van can run proximity push-button on higher trims. Work-vehicle keys sometimes need extra ownership verification — I'll let you know up front.

Leaf + Ariya (EV)

Electric · 2011+ / 2022+

Leaf uses the same kind of proximity key as the petrol lineup of its year. Ariya (2022+) is on Nissan's newest platform — text me the year so I can confirm scope before I dispatch.

Nissan vans — NV200, Primastar, Interstar

NV200, e-NV200, Primastar and Interstar use the same kinds of keys as the Nissan cars, generation for generation — transponder or remote-head on most, proximity push-button on the newest. Primastar and Interstar share their platforms with the Renault Trafic and Master. In scope; text me the model and year and I'll confirm the exact key and quote.

Proximity key tier

Older or rarer — Primera, Almera Tino, Terrano, Patrol, Pixo, Cube, 350Z / 370Z? Still in scope. Text the year and model and I'll confirm.

Nissan key questions, answered.

These cover Nissan — for general service, pricing, and process questions, see the dedicated spare, lost-keys, and fob pages, or the full FAQ page.

What is a Nissan proximity key, and can you replace it?

A Nissan proximity key is the push-button smart fob that lets you unlock and start without taking it out of your pocket. Nissan was an early adopter (proximity fobs have been on Nissans since the early 2000s), so even a lot of older Nissans have one. Yes, I cut and program both the proximity push-button fobs and the older transponder/remote keys at your vehicle. Micra, Juke, Qashqai, X-Trail, Leaf and Navara are all in scope — text me the year, model, and trim for an exact quote.

My Nissan key fob is dead — how do I get in and start it?

Two steps. To get in: there's a hidden mechanical key inside the proximity fob — slide the release and pull it out to unlock the driver's door by hand. To start it: press the brake, then touch the fob to the START/STOP button and push — the button reads the chip up close even with a dead battery. Worth knowing before you're stuck in a Tenerife parking lot under the midday sun. If a fresh coin-cell battery doesn't bring the remote back, it's a programming or hardware issue and I can sort it on-site.

How much does a Nissan key replacement cost in Tenerife?

Spare key starts at €60 transponder or from €200 proximity fob, if I supply — less with your own aftermarket fob. All-keys-lost starts at €200 for most transponder and remote-head keys, or from €200 for a push-to-start smart key. A second key made the same visit costs less than coming back for it later — I put that number in your written quote. Fob programming alone starts at €60.

Do you program push-button (proximity) Nissan all-keys-lost on-site?

Yes. I have dealer-level access for most Nissan models across the transponder and proximity push-button lineup. Push-button Nissans are a job where doing it right matters — I get it done right, reliably, in one trip at your vehicle, no tow, no dealer queue. The newest 2023+ models (and the EV side) tighten things up; text me the exact year, model, and trim first and I'll confirm scope before I dispatch.

Do you do Nissan van keys too?

Yes. The NV200, e-NV200, Townstar, Primastar and Interstar use the same kinds of keys as the Nissan cars, generation for generation — transponder or remote-head on most, proximity push-button on the newest. Primastar and Interstar share their platforms with the Renault Trafic and Master. Text me the model and year and I'll confirm the exact key and the quote before I dispatch.

What battery does my Nissan proximity key take?

Nissan proximity fobs take a coin-cell — usually CR2032, sometimes CR2025. Slide out the mechanical key, split the case, and match the number on the old battery — don't guess. It's a €3.11 part at any supermarket or pharmacy; a swap never needs reprogramming. Still dead after a fresh battery? Text me — that's a programming or hardware issue I handle on-site.

Can you make a Nissan key if I have no key at all?

Yes — that's the all-keys-lost (AKL) job, and on most modern Nissans it means programming a new proximity key to the car from scratch. With dealer-level access, I cut a fresh blade and program a new transponder or proximity key to your Nissan's immobilizer on-site in Tenerife, no dealer tow. Before I start I verify ownership — your DNI/NIE or other photo ID matched to the permiso de circulación or ficha técnica in your name, or the owner's authorisation — and if your documents are locked inside, I run the lockout first so you can reach them.

Nissan in your driveway? Skip the dealer queue.

Quote in writing before I dispatch. Micra, Juke, Qashqai, X-Trail, Navara — transponder or proximity push-button, cut and programmed on-site. Pay after the key starts the engine.
