How Otypro pricing works — full details

In Tenerife, a replacement car key runs from €40 for a basic non-chip key to €200 for an all-keys-lost job — the exact price depends on the key type.

These are my current locked starting prices; the number I send by text before I dispatch is the number you pay, with no surprise charges on arrival — the one exception is a €30 service-call fee if I drive out and the vehicle can't be serviced for a reason that wasn't shared up front — or if the job is cancelled after I'm on the road, or no one's there when I arrive.

Why the spread? Smart and proximity (push-to-start) keys cost more because the new key has to be programmed to the car's encrypted security system; all-keys-lost is highest because there's no working key to copy from. The final number is confirmed by text before I dispatch.

How a mobile locksmith visit works in Tenerife

No phone-tree. No unmarked tech figuring out the price in your driveway. Just this:

You text me

Send your year, make and model, what you need, and a photo of the existing key if you have one. Anywhere in Tenerife.

I send you a preliminary written quote

All jobs are completed on the same day, and I arrive at the agreed time.

Pay after it works

I cut the key and program the fob, you check it — the car starts, the locks respond — then you pay, right there. Bizum, card, or cash. Never up front.

The one exception — the €30 service-call fee

If I arrive and the vehicle can't be serviced for a reason that wasn't shared up front — a broken ignition, security fault, unresponsive immobilizer, or other vehicle-side issue I couldn't know about from the quote — a €30 service-call fee covers the trip, my time, and the diagnosis. The same fee applies if the job is cancelled after I'm on the road, or no one's there when I arrive. If I can do the job, there's no fee — just the price I quoted. How it works →

Car key and lockout questions Tenerife drivers ask

Updated September 2026

If yours isn’t here, just text me.

When can you come out?

Text your year/make/model and where the car is — I’ll reply with a written quote and a realistic ETA. I don’t pad it to sound fast or promise a number I can’t keep. I’m one person, working 24/7: every day, Saturdays and Sundays included — weekend jobs run at the same prices, no weekend surcharge. Between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. a flat €50 night callout fee is added on top of the regular price — or, if it can wait until 7 a.m., there’s no night fee.

What info do you need from me to quote?

Year, make, model. What you need (spare, all-keys-lost, lockout, fob). Where the vehicle is. A photo of any existing key helps. Takes 30 seconds to text.

Do I need to be there?

Yes — for anything except some lockouts. I need ID and the registered owner present for key generation and all-keys-lost work. It’s an insurance and ownership-verification requirement, not me being difficult.

What ID do you need?

Government photo ID matched to vehicle ownership proof — vehicle registration (paper or PDF), or proof-of-insurance in your name. If the car’s not in your name, I’ll sort the authorization out with you before I head over. If everything is locked inside, I open the car first and you retrieve the documents from the glovebox before any key work starts.

What if the key doesn’t work?

It depends on why. If the vehicle has a fault or condition on its end — a security lockout, unresponsive immobilizer, or something specific to that car that wasn’t apparent before I arrived — a €30 service-call fee applies for the trip and diagnostic. If the key doesn’t program because of something on my end and the vehicle is otherwise fine, you don’t pay anything. I don’t take payment until the key cuts, programs, starts the car, and operates the locks.

Is there a warranty?

Yes — 1 year on parts I supply against manufacturer defects. If a key or fob I provided fails from a defect within 12 months, I replace it at no charge. The warranty does not cover water damage or physical damage (dropped, run over, bent, cracked). Parts you supplied yourself are not covered — that warranty sits with the seller. My programming work is covered by the pay-after-it-works guarantee: if the key doesn’t work when I’m done, you don’t pay. Full details on my warranty policy.

How do I pay?

Bizum, card (debit/credit), or cash. Receipt every time. Payment happens after the work, not before.

Bizum Visa Mastercard American Express Apple Pay Google Pay
Do you do residential or commercial lock work?

Not right now. I’m focused on automotive — keys, fobs, lockouts, programming. If you need house or office work, I’ll point you to someone in Tenerife who’s good at it.

What about “licensing” in Spain?

Spain has no dedicated licence for locksmiths — there is no official register you can look a “licensed locksmith” up in. So “licensed locksmith” as a marketing claim in Tenerife doesn’t point to a verifiable credential. What does matter for an ownership-verified vehicle key job: my ownership-verification process

Do you work nights or 24 hours?

Yes — 24/7, every day, nights included. Between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. a flat €50 night callout fee is added on top of the job’s regular starting price. If it can hold until 7 a.m., text me and I’ll book you with no night fee — and I’ll tell you honestly which one makes sense for your situation.

How much does a replacement car key cost in Tenerife?

A spare cut and programmed at your car starts at €60 for a transponder key, from €120 for a remote or flip key, and from €200 for a push-to-start smart key. Lost every key? All-keys-lost starts at €200. A car lockout is from €56. I text you the exact written price before I head out — the number I send is the number you pay. Text your year/make/model to +34 747 733 779 to get yours.

I lost my car keys in Tenerife and have no spare — can you still make one?

Yes — that’s the all-keys-lost job. I come to the car, verify ownership (photo ID matched to registration or insurance), and cut and program a brand-new key on-site, from €200. No tow and no dealer wait — most makes on the road, and you watch the new key start the car before you pay.

How much do you charge to unlock a car in Tenerife?

A car lockout is from €56 — I open the door damage-free at your car, anywhere in Tenerife, with a written text quote before I drive out. No tow, and you pay after the door is open. Full details on the car lockout page. Locked out right now? Text or call +34 747 733 779 with where you’re parked.

I locked my keys in my car in Tenerife — who do I call?

If a child or pet is locked inside, call 112 first — the fire brigade is faster and free for that. Otherwise, text or call Olexy at Otypro in Tenerife at +34 747 733 779 — I’m a solo mobile auto locksmith who drives to you for an emergency car lockout, not a call centre. Send your year/make/model and where you’re parked and I’ll text back a firm price (a standard car lockout is from €56) and an honest ETA before I head out, and you pay once the door is open.

Is a locksmith cheaper than the dealer for a car key?

Honest numbers. Your dealer can do this work — they're just not built for it.

How to spot a scam locksmith in Tenerife

If you've Googled "locksmith near me" lately, you've probably seen ads with €20 starting prices and generic numbers. Most of those routes go to a call centre — not a Tenerife locksmith. Here's the difference.

See the call-centre-vs-me checklist

A call centre route

  • ✗"€12 starting price" ad — the real bill arrives once they're standing next to your car.
  • ✗900/902 number or chat operator asking for your address before quoting.
  • ✗Unmarked sub-contracted "tech" with no idea what your car actually needs.
  • ✗Cash-only, no receipt, no written quote. Price negotiated on your driveway under pressure.

How I work

  • ✓Written quote by text before I head out. The number you see is the number you pay.
  • ✓The quote comes from me, and I'm the one who shows up. A local Spanish mobile number, never a dispatcher.
  • ✓I show ID. I confirm your ownership before any AKL or fob-only key work.
  • ✓You pay once you've checked it works — Bizum, card, or cash, with a receipt every time. Never up front.

In Tenerife, a "€20 service call" locksmith ad almost always routes to a call centre — the real price only shows up once someone is standing next to your car. I text a written, locked quote before I drive out, and you pay once the key works and you've checked it yourself — right there, never up front.
